Bridging the Gap on a path towards Real Political Reform
An inspirational clip which I came across today - though old one - talking strategies for reform that applies the world over because the challenges and solutions are nearly identical. Remember, democracy is in constant threat of stagnation and being taken for granted. We need social movements that understand the vulnerabilities and more importantly are keen to break this corruption circuit for good to ensure a) developing a system that is self-protective and b) seeking/promoting common ground between people of different political affiliations/beliefs to ensure ongoing dialogue/debate so that these divisions don't become a national vulnerability and open for abuse by politicians. A big part of this reform in my opinion is eliminating the role of big money and lobbyist in the equation. What is truly needed is a reform movement that crosses idealogical boundaries and tackles core issues with our political structures/establishment. This in my opinion should a matter of priority/urgency but it needs champions with the profile/expertise and leadership to help make this happen. Genuine cohesion is key to sustainable development/growth so let's work on it.
